A Rose By Any Other Name…
Workers of a certain age have been called many things and none insult me. I’m proud of my age and have no plans to hide it. But are we:
- Mature workers?
- Aging workers?
- Experienced workers?
- Older workers?
- 50+ workers?
- Senior workers?
Did I miss anything? What do you think we should be called?

“Experienced workers” would get my vote. Many of us boomers have had the opportunity to work in one or two industries for a long period of time, thus giving us the depth and breadth around a few subjects . Personally, after working for 34 years in my field, I have the experience, confidence, and ability to make significant contributions to our workplace. Besides, “experienced workers” doesn’t have any negative connotations associated with it…so far.

I have to agree with you, Derek. Experienced is the best! We’ll be hosting a poll in a few weeks to find out what others think as well.

Absolutely. Overcoming the issues specified above are tedious and sometimes require specific skills.
