EEO-1 Change

The EEOC has changed the EEO-1 report. 2007 filings for covered employers are due September 30.

Changes include: (1) “Black” is now “Black or African-American”; (2) “Hispanic” is now “Hispanic or Latino”; (3) Asian Pacific Islander” is divided into “Asian” and “Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander”; and (4) a new category entitled “Two or More Races.” There are also two new sub-categories under “Officials and Managers”: “Executive/Senior Level Officials and Managers” and “First/Mid-Level Officials and Managers.”

You don’t need to re-survey employees for your 2007 filing. However, you should start updating job titles and descriptions and any EEO-1 tracking software to reflect the new changes.
