“God” Responds to Lawsuit
Last week, Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers filed a lawsuit against God. Chambers seeks a permanent injunction, alleging that God has made “terroristic threats” and caused “widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants.”
Chambers probably wasn’t expecting a response from the defendant. But, according to Douglas County District Court Clerk John Friend, that’s exactly what he got.
Friend reports that a document purporting to be from the Almighty himself “miraculously appeared on the counter.” “It just all of a sudden was here — poof!” he says.
So what was God’s response? He contends that the court lacks jurisdiction and that blaming him instead of ourselves for earthly oppression and injustice is misguided. He states: “I created man and woman with free will and next to the promise of immortal life, free will is my greatest gift to you.”
The filing provided no contact information, although the archangel Michael is identified as a witness.
“God” appears to be proceeding without an attorney. According to expert legal analyst Jay Leno, the reason for that is simple: there are no lawyers in Heaven.
