Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

Just a friendly reminder that today is Administrative Professionals Day.

Under Section 1132.27(b)(9)(iv)(H)(13) of the recently passed BNAPEDBET (Be Nice to Administrative Professionals Every Day But Especially Today) Act, managers are required to “do something reasonably creative and un-lame to demonstrate appreciation for the efforts of all administrative staff.”

Potential penalties for noncompliance are severe.  Under the law, any administrative professional who feels less than “appropriately appreciated” today is empowered to do any and all of the following:

  • refuse to type the letters “a” and “p” out of protest;
  • answer all calls directed to the offender by saying, “I’m sorry, but Mr./Ms. __________ is unavailable due to his/her recent incarceration for heroin trafficking”;
  • send out an “all-company” email from the offender’s computer announcing his/her resignation to “pursue other opportunities to be mean to people elsewhere”; and
  • deliver a memo to the offender’s boss chronicling each and every occasion on which the administrative professional was asked to “to lie about the offender’s whereabouts or otherwise cover for him/her in any way during the past seven (7) years.”

You have been warned.  To help you avoid running afoul of the law, Manpower has made it easy to demonstrate your appreciation.  Just click here to send an ecard and to get other handy tips on how to make your administrative professionals feel truly treasured.

    Very funny stuff Mark. So just curiously, how did you appreciate your admin today?

  2. Mark Toth Says:

    Hello Colin!
    Actually, we’re trying to do something nice for our fabulous admins every day this week. On Monday, we gave ‘em official Manpower ecards, some fancy chocolates and a rousing standing ovation at our staff meeting. On Tuesday, we gave ‘em gift certificates to our swanky new corporate HQ cafe. On Admin Pro Day, we showered ‘em with more gifts and told ‘em we’d pick up the tab for the training course of their choice (in line with the theme of this year’s Admin Pro Week — “Moving Forward”).
    Thanks for asking. What’d you do for your admins? You’re not subject to the penalties of the BNAPEDBET Act are you?
    Mark
